Assistant Professor of Teacher Education
Job Description Summary:
The LaFetra College of Education (LFCE) at the University of La Verne invites applications for a 10 month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor of Teacher Education. Screening of applications begins September 1, 2022 and continues until the position is filled.
As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, our current needs are for faculty with expertise in one or more of the following high-impact and high-need areas: clinical fieldwork; leadership; STEM disciplines in grades 6-12; bilingual education; adolescent literacy.
We seek a dynamic, creative, scholar-practitioner committed to quality teaching, student success, and critical scholarship. We seek a colleague with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their interactions, teaching practices, scholarship, and community engagement. Salary and rank are dependent upon qualifications and professional experience.
The successful applicant for this position will teach within the credential program, preferably in relation to student teaching, STEM subject areas, bilingual education, and/or literacy in grades 6-12. The individual will develop and maintain a clear, systematic line of research; engage in applied scholarship, publish in scholarly journals; present research findings at meetings of professional associations; and contribute to advising and teaching. Additionally, the candidate will engage in service to the program, college, university, and profession.

Specific Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Multiple Subject and/or Single Subject Credential/ Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. The ideal candidate might also take on leadership positions within the Teacher Education program. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda, participate in undergraduate and graduate education, perform advising duties, and take on committee assignments. Faculty must complete all assigned duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and university core values.

The teaching schedule will include late afternoons and evenings, and may include weekends. Faculty members teaching a full load typically teach 3 courses per semester.
