Job Summary
The Associate Director, Digital Engagement, Communications emphasizes digital/web communications and social media responsibilities designed to increase awareness of Chicago Booth as a global business school and further build engagement with core constituents, particularly alumni.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and creates strategies for key Advancement channels, namely social media and the alumni website; researches and implements current industry best practices.
- Proactively develops channel and platform resources and tools to empower colleagues to communicate with the alumni audience.
- Manages strategy and execution of alumni social channels (currently LinkedIn and Instagram) to build a social community for Booth alumni. This includes creating a content calendar, leveraging existing content relevant to alumni, and working with the content vertical to develop original content for social media. Monitors and assesses performance to maximize impact and audience growth and engagement.
- Partners with Booth Marketing to manage paid and organic social media advertising on enterprise channels, finds opportunities to amplify organic content through paid advertising, and represents the advancement department in the social media council.
- Creates and shares regular reports on how core channels are performing; investigates trends to identify opportunities for enhanced performance, namely for social media and alumni website.
- Develops, plans, and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization’s programs, accomplishments, or point of view.
- Solves moderate to complex problems related to the writing, preparation, and/or delivery of information from or about the unit.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Education
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

- A minimum three years of experience in alumni relations, communications or marketing.
Technical Skills Or Knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe, Outlook, Cvent, Sitecore, Marketo (or similar email platform) database programs.
Preferred Competencies
- Superb organizational and written/verbal communications skills, and demonstrated experience in managing communications.
- Strong understanding of social media and solid skills in this medium.
- Proven skills in website usability and web best practices.
- Knowledge of multimedia.
- Proven interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
- Customer service minded; detail-orientation with superior organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Function effectively as a team member.
- Knowledge of the project management process, planning and execution.
- Effectively manage time, prioritize work, and multi-task across many assignments; think both strategically and logically, and function effectively under tight deadlines and high workload.
