Job Summary
The Residency Program Administrator is the Principal Manager for the department’s residency program of 31 Anatomic Pathology and/or Laboratory Medicine Residents. The Residency Coordinator applies extensive knowledge of clinical, programmatic, institutional, accreditation, and financial aspects of the Department of Pathology’s residency training program. The incumbent is the sole administrator for the integrity of the interview and match program, the management and supervision of appointments for incoming and continuing residents,, visa processing (J-1 and H1B transfers), accreditation requirements for the residency program, , maintaining accurate records of trainee progress through the program including the milestone and performance evaluation system, and 16 rotations to seven UCSF integrated facilities [Moffitt/Long Hospitals, Mission Bay Hospital, Mt. Zion Hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, China Basin, San Francisco VA Medical Center and the Medical Examiner’s Office (MEO)]. Serve as the primary contact for all individuals interested in Pathology training, responsible for the implementation of residency recruitment and selection and maintaining the highest professional standards in the conduct of the Matching Program and in its interactions with all participants. Administration of the program budget (payroll) by adhering to the strict Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the department of Pathology and the School of Medicine.
The incumbent must also manage qualitative and quantitative compliance reporting; maintain and update program policies and curricula; creating multisite and interdisciplinary rotation schedules per specific training program requirements; develop learner and program assessments; compile learner and program evaluation data for review committees; advise on training program administration policies; and management of resources. Understanding of accrediting body and university policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to graduate medical education are a critical function of this role. The incumbent must be able to travel to various work sites on a regular basis.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Department of Pathology at UCSF aims to achieve the highest standards in patient care, research and education. The Department provides diagnostic pathology services in a wide variety of subspecialties with highly trained subspecialists who are recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise. The Department’s research programs are diverse and interface with a wealth of basic and translational research programs that are a hallmark of UCSF. Our educational programs are led by a Vice Chair for Education in collaboration with the 12 program directors for the academic residency program and fellowships in cytopathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology, general surgical pathology, gynecologic pathology, genitourinary pathology, breast pathology, molecular genetic pathology, neuropathology, clinical pathology research, and a genetics and genomics laboratory fellowship. The Department of Pathology is the academic home to 64 full time and recall faculty members, 51 graduate medical education members, and over 120 administrative, clinical and research staff. The Department has operational activities across the city at the Moffitt/Long Hospitals, Mission Bay Hospital, Mt. Zion Hospital, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, China Basin, San Francisco VA Medical Center and the Medical Examiner’s Office (MEO).
