Job Summary
Under general supervision of the ACSS supervisor, incumbents serve as working leaders of a multi-trade team. The assistant supervisor may assume responsibility for the crew in the absence of a supervisor. This activity involves performing the work of the specialized field, assigning work orders, monitoring work orders, ensuring completion and recording of work orders, explaining tasks to co-workers, assisting with training of co-workers, maintaining time and material records, and assisting with performance evaluations, as requested. Receives general direction from supervisor and provides leadership a minimum of 25% of the time, to at least one skilled worker, depending on complexity of the particular job or project. FS employs over 400 professional staff and acts as steward for over $90 million in operating funds to achieve its goals in operating and maintaining the UCSF campus environment. Located in the Campus Life Services organization, FS is organized into 5 distinct units: (1) Mission Bay/East Campus Operations, (2) Parnassus/West Campus Operations, (3) Infrastructure & Utilities Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organization Development. FS participates in system-wide Principles of Community and all FS leaders are expected to create a fair, equitable, safe, and supportive work environment, where everyone can do their best work. FS leaders share accountability for the overall success of the operation and strive towards a high performance work environment. The Access Controls & Security Systems (ACSS) unit is comprised of: a Center of Excellence ACSS Program Manager, Security Techs, Locksmith, Security Techs, Locksmith, and Key Cutters. The group is responsible for providing technical support in the installation, repair, and maintenance of locks and security systems to Facilities Services teams, Medical Center and the University at large. Under the general direction of the Access Controls Security Systems S Supervisor the incumbent is responsible for: door preparation, installation of locks, exit devices, door closers, electronic hardware, cameras, card readers, alarm panels and associated devices. Repairing, and providing preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices key fabrication and miscellaneous electronic security systems.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
