Job Summary
Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of the Pharmacy Residency Program, which encompasses 25+ trainees. Perform short- and long-term planning for the organization.. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation. The incumbent is responsible to operationalize changes in training or compliance requirements, changes in documentation requirements, new campus-wide quality improvement initiatives, new computer systems or upgrades of current systems, etc. The individual will work with all programs and services within Pharmaceutical Services. He/she will handle complex and highly sensitive information and execute request to meet priorities and deadlines. The Analyst will support the department in area such as human resources (analyze vacancies, process salary cost transfer and funding changes, etc.), strategy planning (establish vision and mission statements, develop organization chart, monitor project plan, etc.), regulatory and compliance (monitor training and licensure compliance, facilitate Board of Pharmacy applications, etc.) and adhoc projects. In addition, the Analyst will provide general support and work with Directors. Will function as a point of contact for UCSF departments and external sources.
Department Description
The Pharmacy Residency Program is sponsored by UCSF Medical Center and directly supports post-graduate year 1 (PGY1) and post-graduate year 2 (PGY2) Pharmacy residents. The program provides indirect support and oversight to PGY1 Community Pharmacy residents, academic and research fellows, as well as affiliate residents of UCSF Medical Center. Under general guidance of the Residency Program Director, the incumbent is fully responsible for providing a wide range of program management for PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residency training programs including recruitment, admissions and selection, orientation / on-boarding, off-boarding, data management, systems management and assessment functions.
The position will independently support accreditation and educational assessment, including quality assurance and continuous quality improvement, and accreditation-related activities for the the PGY1 and PGY2 programs.
Involves managing or performing the administrative services or managing the full general operations of an academic or non-academic organization(s). Administrative services include activities in finance and human resources and may also include IT, facilities, or student services. General management activities include long and short range strategic planning in determining the mission and directing all activities of multi-disciplinary departments through subordinate management staff.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides a full range of services for patients cared for by the Medical Center across the continuum of care as well as its providers and payers. These services include, but are not limited to, drug procurement, storage, and security; safe accurate and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug use policies within the Medical Center; drug information services for clinicians and patients; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs. The Department collaborates with the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy, an academic unit within the School of Pharmacy, which has primary responsibility for teaching professional courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum, research, and public service. The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Department of Pharmaceutical Services share its philosophy of pharmaceutical care.
