The W.A. Franke Honors College at The University of Arizona invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean. Ranked among the top 50 of all public universities in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report, UArizona is the state’s land-grant university, a federally recognized Hispanic Serving Institution and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU). The Dean of Franke Honors College will establish a bold vision, set achievable goals, and provide the necessary infrastructure to raise the profile of the College regionally and nationally.
The Franke Honors College provides the University of Arizona’s highest potential undergraduates the opportunity to take classes with the University’s top educators, to engage in research and creative expression with the University’s extraordinary researchers, designers and artists, and to experience the world through study abroad. The College is a stimulating space for students eager to embrace intellectual challenges and risks in an environment of curiosity, reflection, self-discovery, and freedom. As of Fall 2022, there are approximately 4,200 students in the Franke Honors College.
The Dean will articulate the College’s value and elevate its visibility, accomplishments, and profile to internal and external constituents and will work collaboratively with other UArizona colleges to broaden the integration of Franke Honors College across the institution. The Dean will also ensure curricular offerings are impactful and reflect students’ interests, will partner with Enrollment Management to ensure the recruitment of a strong and diverse incoming class, and will improve student retention by ensuring a pathway to graduation for all entering students. In addition, the Dean will promote an equitable and inclusive climate for all, with deliberate attention to UArizona’s identity as a Hispanic Serving Institution, a land-grant university, and a strong partner to Arizona’s 22 federally-recognized Native American Tribes.
