Short Summary
The Biological Services Group provides high containment in-vivo research services, with the primary aim of protecting the UK public from a range of health risks. Ongoing areas of work include vaccine batch release testing, influenza, COVID-19, tuberculosis, anthrax, and emerging human pathogens.
We are seeking an additional team member, with experience in the use of animal models, to support the delivery of our research and health protection goals. The post holder will actively support and contribute to the delivery of a wide range of projects, through the provision of animal care, husbandry, and procedural skills within a high containment facility.

The post holder will actively support and contribute to the delivery of a wide range of projects, through the provision of animal care, husbandry, and procedural skills within a high containment facility. The facility operates under several regulatory authorities, including, Home Office, Health and Safety Executive, and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
The post holder will be expected to achieve and maintain the listed responsibilities and criteria to meet the requirements of the role. It is not expected that an applicant will meet all requirements on appointment, but would be able to achieve, and maintain, competency through provided training.
Location
This is a Lab based role at our Porton Down, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP4 0JG lab.
*Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available.*
Working Pattern – Full Time, with weekend shifts on a rotational basis.

STAGE 1 – APPLICATION & SIFT:

STAGE 2 – INTERVIEW
This competition will involve a face-to-face interview.
As part of the process, candidates will be invited to interview which will involve an in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence in relation to the criteria set out in the Person Specification.
Your Statement of Suitability should outline your skills, experience, and achievements, providing evidence of your suitability for the role, with reference to the essential criteria (outlined in the person specification section).
You will also be asked to provide information within the ‘Employer/ Activity history’ section of the application form. This is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV, setting out your career history.
