U.S. Olympic Committee Looking for Sr. Performance Data Analyst at Any Full Time

Here’s a summary of responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Performance Analytics, the Senior Performance Data Analyst oversees the development of analysis and reporting tools to put performance insights into action. Manages a team responsible for the administration of the the USOPC’s custom Athlete Management System (Athlete 360), providing hands-on support to USOPC and NGB sports science, medicine, research, and performance providers. Utilizes integrated health and performance data sources to create impactful solutions for Team USA.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, trusted problem solver and leader with a passion for the Olympic and Paralympic Movements and experience in applied sport science.

• Manage the analysis and reporting of all relevant data to derive insights applicable to athlete performance and wellness
• In collaboration with the Performance Data Scientist, assist with the application of innovative predictive modeling, machine learning, and data visualization methods to solve challenging high-performance problems
• Oversee data-informed interventions by incorporating predictive and prescriptive analysis into solutions
• Develop and implement communications strategies to clearly and efficiently communicate analytical insights to all stakeholders regardless of technical ability
• Contribute to the strategy and direction of the USOPC’s Athlete 360 program, including regular interaction with vendors, NGBs, and other stakeholders to assess and prioritize initiatives
• Strategically and proactively engage and onboard NGBs, driving user adoption as part of a well-defined, scalable service model
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Athlete 360 users, providing support and identifying opportunities to improve solutions and analysis
• Implement procedures and data best practices to ensure operational functionality of Athlete 360
• Apply sport science and clinical research to ensure alignment of Performance Analytics initiatives with overall Sport Performance strategy
• Create data-driven solutions to maximize athlete wellbeing and training availability
• Collaborate with USOPC and NGB service providers to automate and improve processes, leading a team to implement process improvement
• Lead the design and administration of feedback tools for athletes, coaches, and providers to optimize training for desired performance and health outcomes
• Manage a team of analytics professionals to efficiently and consistently deliver insights and services to athletes, coaches, NGBs, and USOPC teammates
• Supervise the hiring, training, and team collaboration of direct reports aligned with overall Performance Analytics objectives
• Identify and coordinate professional development and career growth opportunities for team members, partnering with Performance Innovation leadership and other internal stakeholders as needed
• Efficiently align efforts and resources across competing priorities, projects, and organizational needs
• Stay apprised of trends, tools, and techniques in data analytics, sharing best practices with the team as appropriate
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be effective:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Sport Science, Biomechanics, Physiology, Kinesiology, Data Science, Statistics, Analytics or related field
• 5+ years of experience delivering sports analytics or applied sports science solutions in high-performance environments
• 2+ years of experience building and leading high-performing analytics teams
• Detailed knowledge and development of Athlete Management Systems (AMS)
• Advanced knowledge of statistical languages (R, Python, SAS), data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI), database functionality (SQL, Snowflake) and other programming languages
• Expertise in sports technologies and wearables
• Skill in collaboration with sport performance practitioners in clinical settings
• Some travel domestically and internationally
