What you will be doing: As an aqua-savvy enthusiast, you’ll work under the guidance of the Chief Plant Operator to master the art of water treatment, one shift at a time, contributing by expertly handling water systems and becoming an indispensable part of the team. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
Knowledge of: standard principles of biology, chemistry, mathematics, and the overall operation of a water system. Knowledge of the regulations concerning treatment plant operation and of the safety precautions relating to work around machinery and laboratory chemicals. Knowledge of laboratory procedures and tests performed in monitoring treatment plants and distribution and collection systems and maintenance procedures of treatment plant equipment.
Skills in: operating the equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the job, including but not limited to SCADA system, computers, analyzers and laboratory instruments. Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; use standard office and water management software; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to work on call (stand by), shift work and a variable work schedule.
Environmental Factors: Work is performed in a standard office environment as well as an outside setting, with frequent to constant use of a personal computer. Work may involve competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines. Tasks frequently require both inside and outside work, exposure to chemicals, and local travel. Employee may occasionally be walking on uneven surfaces and working with heights. Employee may occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, gases/fumes/dust, moderate to high noise levels, vibrations, and light to heavy equipment operations. Employee may rarely work in traffic or be required to travel out of town.
Physical Factors: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly grasping, fingering, and handling items as well as talking and hearing. Employee will frequently be sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time, use of near visual acuity and frequently moving objects weighing over 10 pounds. Occasionally tasks require stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, balancing, reaching, moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, use of far visual acuity, depth perception, color discrimination and peripheral vision. Employee may rarely have some tasks requiring running or moving objects weighing over 100 pounds.
