The Y (YMCA) Looking for Teen Director at Hickory, NC Full Time

The YMCA of Catawba Valley in Hickory, NC is seeking a Teen Director for the Hickory Foundation YMCA branch.

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director, the Teen Director is responsible for leading the Teen program and facility development; this includes on and off-site programs as well as special events designed specifically for teens.

Qualifications

• Preferred four-year degree in Childcare, Psychology, Business Management, or related field.
• Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of fiscal management and budget process.
• Must have experience working with teens and program administration experience.
• Current certifications in or ability to obtain: First Aid, CPR, Motor Vehicle Report check, negative TB test, criminal records check, and drug screen.
• Must be at least 18 years-old.
• Must be responsive to members and program participants.
• Must be attentive to details, well organized, able to meet deadlines, take initiative to solve problems, be proactive in decision making, and work with little supervision.
• Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility.
• Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility and program areas.
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills with volunteers, members, and parents.

Essential Functions

• Overseeing the daily operation, management, and outside group rentals of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.
• Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all staff of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.
• Assisting in the budget development and implementation for the C.O. Miller Teen Center.
• Being responsible for program growth and development of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.
• Coordinating and supervising the teen activities and programs including Teen After School and Leaders in Training Summer Camp.
• Providing leadership to and expanding teen clubs including Leaders Club, Community Achievers, Youth and Government
• Ensuring the safety, health and welfare of the teens who participate in the teen programs.
• Maintenance and cleanliness of the C.O. Miller Teen Center.
• Establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents and staff.
• Providing leadership for fundraising efforts and volunteer development including the Branch’s Annual Support Campaign by achieving yearly goals within the department.
• Supporting and developing new programs that result from the YMCA’s collaboration with numerous community service organizations, foundations, and grant providers.
• Assisting with the administration of grant compliance for all funded teen service programs provided for the C.O. Miller Teen Center.
• Managing and developing Special Events such as Teen Character Awards, 5th Quarter Parties, Middle School dances, and other community events.

Required Certifications

• Preferred four-year degree in Childcare, Psychology, Business Management, or related field.
• Current certifications in or ability to obtain: First Aid, CPR, Motor Vehicle Report check, negative TB test, criminal records check, and drug screen.
• 3-5 years of experience in management and supervision with YMCA or like organization.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required (upon offer of employment).
