As Designer III (Instrumentation & Controls), you will prepare instrumentation and control designs for the installation of new equipment, controls, and piping, the construction of new facilities, and the retrofit of existing equipment and facilities for Metropolitan’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) projects. You will also prepare 2-D piping and instrumentation diagrams and equipment list. As the Designer III, you will participate in field investigations and studies; prepare preliminary and final design drawings using Bentley MicroStation Connect and/or V8i, OpenPlant PID Connect software or similar programs and generate reports pertaining to engineering projects using Microsoft Office software. In this position, you will coordinate your designs with a wide range of engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architectural, and Structural.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency and four years of increasingly responsible, relevant experience; OR three years of relevant experience and
twelve quarter units or eight semester units from an accredited college, university, or vocational school.
Relevant experience is defined as: experience with the preparation and coordination of instrumentation and controls design drawings using Bentley MicroStation Connect and/or V8i, OpenPlant PID Connect software or similar programs; knowledge of piping and instrumentation diagrams, and controls; experience with the use of computer-aided design (CAD) methods and practices.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations:
Licenses: Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
