Description
The Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture in the School of Education and Human Development is seeking one position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with the opportunity for tenure review upon hire in Multicultural/Urban Education. This is a full-time 9-month position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities of the position include a) maintaining a vibrant funding and research agenda in multicultural education that can be complimented in a content/context area of education of national/international significance, b) teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and c) enhancing and elevating multicultural/urban education research and practice applied to the preparation of the next generation of teachers, researchers and academic leaders as well as service to the profession.
We seek a vibrant and innovative colleague to join our dynamic faculty and become a thought leader in multicultural education applied in one of the scholarly areas of teaching and research within the department.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
* An earned doctorate in education with depth of study and research in multicultural or urban education, or a closely related field;
* A record of research-based publications in top tier journals;
* A record of strong potential for extramural funding commensurate with experience;
* A record of extramural funding supporting a well-defined research agenda
* Strong evidence of commitment to engagement in professional leadership activities
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in multicultural and urban education instruction in teacher education, curriculum and instruction or within a specific content area of teacher education e.g., multiculturalism, policy reform, urban education, ESL, etc., as an interdisciplinary approach;
* Experience in teaching multicultural education principles and evidence-based practices in content-area instruction particularly for students in urban environments and/or underserved in academic environments;
* Application and integration of new technologies and evidence-based interventions in multicultural education;
* Evidence of effective post-secondary teaching experience with undergraduate and graduate students
* Evidence of effective mentorship of graduate students
* Engagement in service activities within an academic department
