Job Description
The Director of Field Experience and External Partnerships provides coordination and management of field experiences for teacher and non-teacher candidates by building external relationships with districts and community leaders. Texas A&M University – Central Texas includes the main campus area districts as well as the East Williamson County Higher Education Center (EWCHEC) area. 

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver the orientation for clinical teachers, interns, mentors, cooperating teacher mentors, and field supervisors.
• May have instructional assignments as required by program.
• In collaboration with the Certification Office, create and manage all materials, handouts etc. for clinical teachers, interns, mentors, cooperating teacher mentors, and field supervisors and distribute electronically.
• In collaboration with the Certification Office and the Program, create and manage handbook(s)/task descriptions for clinical teachers, interns, mentors, cooperating teacher mentors, and field supervisors.
• Manage a list of Master Mentors in each of the primary districts (Cove, Killeen, Belton, and Temple). Grow Master Mentors in EWCHEC area districts.
• Plan presentations at faculty/ClS/Principal meetings to inform and to tout the advantages of hosting a clinical teacher from Texas A&M University – Central Texas.
• Have conversations (including surveys) with campus administrators to gather data on skills and dispositions they need for their potential teacher hires.
• Have conversations (including surveys) with principals/ClS to gather data on their experiences with having a Texas A&M University – Central Texas clinical teacher on their campus as a basis for program/placement continuous improvement.
• Participate in recruitment activities as a part of program growth.
• Conduct observations and gather data from field supervisors related to mentor / cooperating teacher mentor effectiveness.
• Gather targeted input from clinical teachers and interns about their experiences with their mentors / cooperating teacher mentors with suggestions for improvement/positive attributes.
• Plan and execute “Mentor Appreciation Activities” in order to keep our effective mentors and encourage them to continue to be mentors for the college.
• Stay in contact with clinical teachers as they progress through their first and second year of being a classroom teacher to gather data.
• Be the liaison to principals during the clinical teaching and internship and provide campus support for any needs or issues that might arise.
• Address any Notice of Concerns from Campus Administrators, Field Supervisors, Mentors, Cooperating Teacher Mentors and facilitate collaborative meetings needed for Notices of Concern or Deficiency Notice/Growth Plans.
• Plan supplemental learning and resources for clinical teachers or interns (modules, online, staff development, meetings with instructors) if needed due to a candidate receiving an Improvement Needed from their field supervisor, or if they receive a Notice of Concern, or are required to complete a Deficiency Notice/Growth Plan.
• Be aware of campus-wide initiatives in our major districts and relay this information to instructors in the college of education so they can be included in preparatory coursework. Assist clinical teachers in their implementation of these initiatives.
• Attends all department meetings to keep Field Experience aligned with Program.
• Sets up Field Based Experience Observations (30 hours) along with background information from districts.
• Undergraduate initial teacher placements and coordination of mentor assignments.
• Grant Projects Collaboration – Branch Ed, Charles Butt Foundation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
• 10 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in applicable field
• Principal certification and experience
• Teacher experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
