What to Expect
As a Software QA Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and validating all current and future Autopilot features on the path to full self-driving. You will work very closely with the development team to drive the validation of new and existing features, and you will be responsible for reporting and investigating issues that are detected in the field. The work you do will directly impact the experience that our customers around the world have with Autopilot. A strong candidate will possess excellent coding and software validation skills with a great attention to detail, a self driven attitude, and a passion to deliver the highest quality software possible.
What You’ll Do
- Help transition Tesla’s Autopilot to full self-driving by developing and validating features including Autosteer, Navigate on Autopilot, Smart Summon, and more
- Perform functional, stress, and performance tests on multiple levels within the system including vehicle software simulation, hardware-inthe-loop automation
- Leverage Tesla’s vast telemtry pipeline to monitor Autopilot performance in the field
- Develop tooling/automation to improve the efficiency of the validation team
- Identify effective test strategies for new/existing features and craft test plans accordingly
- Analyze issues detected during your tests or reported by others and work closley with firmware developers to fix issues and validate software changes
- Review of system requirements for testability and make sure software meets federal and internal requirments
What You’ll Bring
- BS in Computer SCience, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or proof of exceptional skills in related fields, with practical software engineering experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing/testing automotive or robotics systems, vehicle dynamics, embedded system level software, or consumer electronics hardware/software (hiring all levels)
- Experience with ADAS features, CAN working knowledge, and/or experience testing computer visison systems is a plus
- Strong Python and/or C++ coding skills
- Experience torubleshooting on both software and hardware level
- Demonstrable experience solving difficult QA problems (scalability, reliability, reporting, etc)
- Flexibility of traveling to various domestic and international destinations when necessary to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks, and proving grounds
- Passionate about Tesla’s mission

Expected Compensation
$96,000 – $282,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
