Task Management Inc. is currently searching for a Quality Manager to work for an Automotive Grinding facility in Elgin, Illinois.
This is a direct hire position.
Target pay range: $70,000-$85,000
Basic Function: Has the responsibility for ensuring product quality and has the authority to stop production to solve quality problems. Serves as Customer and Management Representative and liason for quality.
Tasks:
1. Ensures the quality of parts produced.
2. Leads and motivates a quality team of inspectors to achieve maximum performance.
3. Manages the analysis of nonconforming parts to ensure root cause to provide effective and lasting corrective action.
4. Confirm and communicate information related to non-conforming parts to the customers. Monitor the status of nonconforming parts and follow up with customers and production.
5. Manage the quality activities for the launch of new projects.
6. Ensure all customer qualifications requirements are completed on time. This may include involvement and completion of PPAP’s, FMEAs, R&R studies, Ppk studies, FAIRs, and Control Plans.
7. Functions as the customer’s representative by selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives, providing related training, managing verification activities prior to product shipment as required.
8. Manages the quality system including scheduling and managing internal audits, planning management review meetings, and document control.
9. Serves as the catalyst for improvement within the organization. Look for ways to improve quality and reduce costs in everything and then implement improvements.
10. Manage SPC data gathering and address any issues to production.
11. Manages gage calibration.
12. All other duties as assigned by Director of Quality.
Skills:
1. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
2. Identifying complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
3. Excellent communications skills in terms of listening, speaking and writing
4. Interpretation of blueprints.
5. The ability to use software to calculate and interpret common statistics (measurement and capability studies)
6. The ability to apply quality tools (FMEAs, SPC, Pareto Analysis, 5 whys etc.)
7. Experience with any of the following would be considered a plus: Calibration, CMM programming, Minitab software,
Experience and Education:
1. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in quality capacity.
2. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a machining environment.
3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role, motivating people.
Essential Physical Requirements:
1. Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
2. Physical strength to lift and carry 25 pounds frequently.
3. Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
