Director, Revenue Recognition
Synopsys is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Revenue Recognition to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role, leading a team in ensuring compliance with Software Revenue Recognition guidelines, specifically ASC-606. You will work closely with various departments, including Sales, Contracts, Revenue Accounting, Order Management, and External Auditors. Your primary responsibility will be to lead a team and provide guidance on structuring terms and conditions in contracts to ensure accurate revenue recognition. Additionally, you will prepare, document, and justify revenue recognition through summary reports/packages, presenting them to external auditors after each quarter-end. You will also be responsible for documenting Synopsys’ policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ASC-606 and participating in training Sales, Contracts, and Order Administration staff.
Furthermore, you will contribute to process improvements across various functions, review M&A contracts, and prepare revenue positions for the company. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate closely with Sales, Contracts, Revenue Accounting, Order Management, and External Auditors to ensure compliance with Software Revenue Recognition guidelines (ASC-606).
* Provide guidance on structuring terms and conditions in contracts to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
* Prepare, document, and justify revenue recognition through summary reports/packages and present them to external auditors after each quarter-end.
* Document Synopsys’ policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ASC-606.
* Participate in training Sales, Contracts, and Order Administration staff on revenue recognition guidelines.
* Identify and recommend process improvements across various functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue recognition.
* Review M&A contracts and prepare revenue positions for the company.
* Stay updated on industry trends and changes in revenue recognition regulations.
* Partner with sales planning team to provide timely and accurate inputs for revenue forecasting.
* Expand and manage a center of excellence team in an overseas location.
Qualifications:
* A CPA or a postgraduate degree in business is expected.
* Big-4 public accounting/advisory experience will be a strong plus for this role.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of Software Revenue Recognition guidelines, specifically ASC-606.
* Semi-conductor industry specific experience will be a strong plus.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Proven experience in preparing and justifying revenue recognition documentation for external audits.
* Knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with financial reporting processes.
* Experience in process improvement initiatives is highly desirable.
* Ability to review complex contracts and interpret their impact on revenue recognition.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend practical solutions.
* Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
* Ability to adapt to changes in regulations and proactively implement necessary adjustments.
* Leadership skills and experience in directing and managing a team.
* Deep understanding of end to end Quote to Cash processes including typical systems/tools and control environments.
