Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of a degree, four (4) years of full-time directly related experience, or a combination of higher education and experience totaling four (4) years may be considered. Five (5) years of directly related full-time utilities experience. Experience writing comprehensive reports and/or detailed analysis. Experience with computer software to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the operation of Heating and Cooling Plants and/or Cogeneration facilities. Experience formulating and managing Energy Management projects resulting in energy reduction and GHG (Greenhouse gas) goals. Experience with project management. Experience with managing a budget. Experience with NYS procurement and contract management. Experience with Energy Industry forecast data and trend analysis.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Associate Director of Utilities is responsible for the management of personnel, finances and equipment as well as the development and the implementation of programs in conjunction with the University’s Department of Sustainability/Energy Management. Acts as the liaison with the Cogeneration facility on Campus for technical matters. Drive the strategic development of energy conservation opportunities in campus buildings using comprehensive and advanced knowledge, feeding proposed projects from the established Clean Energy Master Plan. Work in close collaboration with the Energy Management and Sustainability staff, HVAC, and building managers to develop energy reduction methodologies and building optimization. Provide analysis when needed to support the hedging program and long-range supply plan. Assist in managing energy procurement hedging strategy. Benchmark sustainability practices and initiatives against similar sized University facilities. Assist the AD of Power Plants and the Director of Utilities on the operation of the Heating and Cooling Plants and the interaction with the Cogeneration plant. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful incumbent must have experience driving the strategic development and implementation of energy conservation opportunities in a large facility. The successful incumbent must have experience working with various professionals, Energy Managers, contractors, officials and staff on all aspects of the CEMP (Clean Energy Master Plan). The successful incumbent must have experience with hedging of utilities, and energy procurement while managing a long range supply plan.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee’s base salary, this position is eligible for $3,026 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
