Overview

Lead NMBS IT department consisting of developers, contract developers, and systems engineers (hardware and network)

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the IT department, including but not limited to personnel, software development, data management, communication systems, and hardware infrastructure.
• Oversee and ensure the effective enforcement of existing IT General Controls (ITGCs). Responsibilities include monitoring the adherence to these controls, managing access rights, and ensuring that all IT processes align with our established control framework.
• Develop and conduct targeted training programs focused on ITGCs for employees.
• Regularly test and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented ITGCs. Responsibilities include conducting audits, analyzing test results to identify compliance issues or weaknesses, and making recommendations for enhancements or corrective actions.
• Stay abreast of emerging IT risks and evolving industry standards. Continuously refine and update ITGCs to address new challenges, enhance system security, and improve operational efficiency, ensuring that our IT infrastructure remains robust and compliant.
• Assure effective asset management is in place.
• Create a can-do energized team with a culture of excellence. Lead the IT team to be a competitive advantage for the business.
• Collaborate with business leaders to develop IT strategies and enterprise architecture consistent with the business vision and needs.

Set software development priorities consistent with needs of the business.

• Evaluate productivity and effectiveness of all resources and services.
• Assure timely and effective software project management.
• Manage IT spending and continually assess the need and cost effectiveness of new and current systems and services.

Qualifications

Required

• IT leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills
• A proactive and meticulous mindset with a strong focus on IT General Controls. This includes a deep understanding of the importance of ITGCs in maintaining system integrity, ensuring data security, and complying with regulatory standards.

The candidate should demonstrate an ability to constantly consider ITGCs in every aspect of their work, from system design and implementation to ongoing management and monitoring.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential IT risks and develop effective control mechanisms to mitigate these risks.

The candidate should be adept at problem-solving, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to establishing and maintaining high standards of IT governance and security.

• Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, networks, cybersecurity, hardware, cloud technologies, applications, etc.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with others.

Preferred

• -year degree in computer science or related field
• + years’ experience within information technology
• IT project management experience
