Position Summary:
The School of Education, Health, and Human Services prepares students for successful entry into their profession. We focus on an ethical approach to human well-being and encourage critical thinking and practical application. The Education Department helps our students develop and apply the knowledge of child development and subject area content needed in the 21st century classroom. We are innovative, flourishing, and AAQEP accredited, focusing on the education of children from early childhood settings through grades 1-6 and 7-12. Our programs integrate extensive field experiences, developmental and educational theory, content knowledge, and critical pedagogy as we prepare our candidates to teach in rural, suburban, and urban communities. We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative educator for this tenure-track position with expertise in childhood education and literacy instruction.
In this onsite position, integrating curricular areas and infusing technology to support learning will be essential. The MST program is fully online, yet there are opportunities to teach in person for the BA/MST program. The successful candidate will be expected to practice and model reflective teaching and learning, working closely with university colleagues and professionals in regional partner schools. Examples of responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in childhood education, curriculum development, literacy, and teaching methods. Qualified candidates would also supervise graduate students in field experiences, advise graduate students, participate in service activities internal and external to campus, and contribute to program development; and engage in scholarly activity. Evidence of effective teaching, publication and other scholarly activities/research, and a record of service will be required for tenure and promotion. As an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs and practices. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please include a cover letter of interest, resume/CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, a one-page statement regarding your commitment to equity and inclusion, and contact information for three professional references. Additional information may be requested at a later step in the process. Official transcripts from an accredited institution will be required prior to employment.
