Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Logistics & Transportation position is a global center led distribution and transportation role providing enhancement for all aspects of transportation (domestic and international), leading efforts for project, systems and report management. This role will need to balance demands from multiple internal/external customers and be flexible project and resource priorities with a critical eye for process and cost opportunities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Top notch customer-centric executer/communicator focused on working with internal business unit customers to determine needs and develop processes for efficiently providing daily updates on shipments, deliveries and financials
Manage and drive Transportation transload operations and equipment from all NA facilities. Establish global model on inter regional shipment transition – manage up 3-5 associate worldwide in multiple time zones on regional transportation movement
Manage Global Inventory Cycle Count Program compliance across all distribution centers
Manage inventory accuracy globally – reporting update to BU CFO’s and Ops. ; Work global corrective actions, establish plan that exceed requirements from KPMG.
Drive global internal audit of cycle counting per sampling AQL standards. Define standard level to be used
Manage Global Distribution Center informational database including contract and insurance compliance – currently supporting over 42 locations across the world for forward and reversed logistics
Manage and maintain integrated Logistics and Transportation program/project timelines and governance for all assigned programs/projects
Project manage strategic key global Logistics transitions including Transportation Management System, TMS, Global Trade Compliance, GTC, and SAP S4 HANA readiness
Provide input in to the design requirements for TMS and Freight payment systems
Leader in change management with scope to define, provide recommendation and drive automation of tools and reporting
Implement repeatable process and deliver analytics assets (reports, dashboards, KPIs) to empower business teams and their leadership with insights and data driven decision making capabilities
Assists in key global Logistics transitions including TMS, Compliance, GTC, and SAP S4 HANA readiness
Design/Develop and standardized operational reports and dashboards to monitor data integrity, and other key objectives and performance indicators
Super user to build reporting within Spectrum Brands systems, i.e. GTNexus Transportation Management
Lead enhancement current data warehouse solutions – move solutions to higher level with Power BI team and supplier ownership
Develops and drives supplier scorecards and ongoing supplier performance improvement, partnering with international teams across all regions
Define and influence global reports and other presentation materials as required by department leadership
Exercise creative and critical thinking skills when reviewing data, reporting, and in developing additional business intelligence tools. Use software development lifecycle best practices to migrate changes from development to production database environments. Seek opportunities for cost reductions and champion process efficiencies. Familiarity with domestic and international transportation functions concepts are a plus.
Education and Experience Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or related field is required; MBA preferred
Minimum of ten (10) years working experience in global logistics, freight forwarding management
Minimum of five (5) years working experience with ERP and TMS system, preferably with SAP
Experience managing multiple suppliers by setting requirements, deliverables and reporting
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) including Power BI Tool or another similar BI tool required
A Certificate Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or other related professional certification, completed or in progress is preferred – other mgt and leadership certifications also good
Six Sigma Greenbelt certification completed or in progress is a preferred
Experience managing large programs, cross functional teams of 5-10 associates, in addition to leading and managing projects from initial formulation through successful completion
Familiarity with Power BI reporting and dashboard publication to strategically specify SAP and GTNexus global reporting
Required Skills
Project management skills for supplier, transportation, warehousing and ERP systems deployment
Well-organized and managerial leadership globally with suppliers and internal organizations
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple organizations, communicate to executive teams and drive continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to work well amidst ambiguity and able to solve project problems
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively across all levels within the organization and global regions
Possesses a knowledge and implementation of logistics business processes/operations
Ability to organize facts to effectively present and prioritize material both verbally and in writing
Ability to communicate clear deliverables and timeline for projects
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to identify process improvements, suggest appropriate recommendations, and facilitate change.
