Position Highlights

We are seeking an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to establish and grow heart failure services at Charlton Memorial Hospital and associated referral centers and practices. Charlton Memorial Hospital is a dynamic 328 bed hospital which provides a broad range of cardiovascular services to a growing population, including Cardiothoracic Surgery, EP, etc.  The Heart Failure clinician will work with cardiothoracic surgical and other colleagues to manage the growth of MCS services, and work with advanced providers to support development of a comprehensive Heart Failure evaluation and management program. The Hospital administration is fully supportive of the growth of a superb Heart Failure program to serve the region.

The position will be supported in a partnership with the Advanced Heart Failure Program at Tufts Medical Center. The Heart Failure clinician will be a full participant in activities of the Tufts Heart Failure Team, including up to 4 weeks of attending on the in-patient LVAD/transplant/advanced heart failure service on-site at Tufts, potential participation in out-patient clinics, participation in all of the LVAD/transplant evaluation meetings and presenting local cases to the team following full local evaluation.

Qualifications

Board Certification in Cardiology and Board certification/eligibility following Fellowship Training in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. 

About Southcoast Health’s Cardiovascular Care Center

The Cardiovascular Care Center at Southcoast Health provides tertiary level care in a community hospital setting. This includes a high-volume catheterization and interventional program, advanced electrophysiology, structural heart including TAVR, mitral clip and watchman, high volume cardiac surgery and advanced vascular surgery. Southcoast is the busiest STEMI Center in the Southeastern Massachusetts region. We also offer advanced non-invasive testing including TEE (supports structural program), echo, nuclear, cardiac CTA and Cardiac MRI.  Cardiac services are based primarily at Charlton Memorial Hospital where we also offer a dedicated cardiac critical care team consisting of our cardiologists and dedicated Cardiology Advanced Practice Practitioners.

About Tufts Medical Center’s Advanced Heart Failure Program

The Advanced Heart Failure Program at Tufts Medical Center is a regional leader in heart transplant and LVAD procedures having performed over 625 transplants since its inception and averaging over 40 transplants per year over the last five calendar years.  The Program includes an active mechanical circulatory support device program as well as a fully dedicated 16-bed inpatient intermediate Heart Failure Unit. The Heart Failure Team includes 7 full-time faculty, 8 transplant/LVAD/referral coordinators and 7 advanced practice providers.  Our renowned faculty are exploring innovative treatments with research interests in heart failure/LVAD/transplant outcomes, basic science and clinical trials.
