About Us
Skymint has a strong presence and history as Michigan’s second largest cannabis retail operator with 21 operating locations, as well as select supporting production manufacturing resources. For the last several years, Skymint has been through a unique restructuring process that will position Skymint for newfound success. With the transition to a new ownership group nearly completed, Skymint has the opportunity to refresh and focus its culture on becoming the dominant retailer in Michigan with a tenacious, purpose-led, and performance-driven culture focused on delighting consumers. While the cannabis industry undergoes transition and challenges for many companies, Skymint’s restructuring has both created a nimbler, retail-focused operation and has aligned ownership with a well-capitalized sponsor. This strategic move positions Skymint for growth and success in a competitive market.
Historically, Skymint has relied on its own production for stocking its shelves, but we are transitioning the business to benefit from the abundance of third-party product. Skymint has a broad footprint in Michigan, but its retail locations are currently performing below average compared to peers. We are on a mission to revive and restore operations to once again become the dominant, go-to cannabis retailer in Michigan.
What You’ll Do and Who You Are
- Take Ownership of Retail Profit & Loss (P&L). Actively oversee retail store budgets, collaborate with various teams to create operating plans that optimize revenue and profit growth while achieving targets in volume, market share, and profitability.
- Drive Data-Driven Decisions and a Value-Centric Offering. Ensure accountability across all facets of the retail operation by establishing clear metrics/KPIs and milestones to optimize performance. Instill a culture of continuous improvement utilizing analytics to drive decision-making. Align strategies with consumer trends and behaviors. Avoid hunches about what the ‘cannabis customer’ should be, and focus on a value offering and margin maximization augmented by analytics
- Own Store 4-Walls. Leverage expertise in assortment, merchandising, inventory control, marketing, loyalty, and POS systems. Frequently walk stores to ensure the delight of consumers.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business or relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years experience managing multi-unit retail stores (cannabis, liquor, and/or convenience store experience considered an asset, as well as similar fast-moving consumer goods categories) with a focus on value segments
- Minimum of 10 years of total working experience
- Must be able to work around a standard retail schedule
- Accessible outside of standard business hours
- Must be 21 years or older with the ability to pass a criminal background check
- Knowledge of retail operations and related operating practices
- Proficient in all MS Office Suite applications
- Experience with retail systems, with a benefit of experience with cannabis POS systems such as Dutchie
- Previous experience in strategy, channel execution, training, and communications
- Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to selling cannabis in Michigan
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to offer and present strategic solutions to leadership
- Proven ability to measure program effectiveness and recommend modifications as required
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain rapport at all organizational levels
- Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to influence others, and ensure team accountability
