Follow established quality control procedures to validate instrument performance, service instruments for maintenance, and perform routine repairs. Log quality control results and communicate results to Management. Track and report inventory supplies. Assist in writing and editing manuscripts for Resource Users as needed. Assist Manager with Resource User instrument and software training. Assist Resource Users to troubleshoot a variety of general issues related to data acquisition, data analysis, and data storage. Assist in the execution of Core related projects. Serve as FACS Core primary point of contact in the absence of the Core Manager.
Requirements
Required Education/Experience:
– Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
– Experience in a laboratory/research setting.
– Demonstrated knowledge in solving technical problems such as issues with lab/flow cytometry instrumentation.
Required Credentials:

Preferred:
– Experience acquiring and analyzing Flow Cytometry data, preferably with BD FacsDiva software.
– Data entry and/or word processing experience.
– Experience in analyzing data using spreadsheets and statistical analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
– Knowledge of scientific discipline and applicable techniques and procedures used in a research Flow Core lab setting.
– Knowledge of lab safety procedures according to the assigned department.
– Knowledge of basic principles of media preparation and sterile techniques.
– Knowledge of software applications, proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Access), and ability to learn new software programs.
– Knowledge of DNA analysis software and related computer techniques.
– Excellent problem-solving skills.
– Strong interpersonal skills.
– Good laboratory techniques and record keeping skills.
– Good organization skills, including attention to detail.
– Data collection, analysis and summary skills.
– Good written and communication skills.
– Able to read English and follow both verbal and written instructions.
– Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
– Willingness and ability to learn new methods, approaches, and experimental techniques.
– Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Able to work with potentially hazardous chemical materials and biohazard samples.
– Able to recognize emergency situations and take appropriate action as defined in emergency procedures.
