POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides sales support and generate business for all Seaboard Marine services. To represent the company’s interest in any function, specifically those customer-related. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. GEOGRAPHIC REGION:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Possess at least 5 years of inside sales and/or pricing experience within the industry (ocean transportation, NVOCC).
Fluent in English with strong written and verbal skills.
Intermediate Computer skills (in programs such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook).
Ability to work with limited supervision and strong initiative.
Possess strong organization and time-management skills. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast- paced environment.
Ability to think logically and follow procedures and instructions.
Flexibility to work extended hours, holidays and/or weekends.
Flexibility to attend Conferences, Trade Shows, visit specific customers, as may be required.
Ability to travel domestically frequently/daily and overseas as deemed necessary by sales management.
Clean and current Driver’s License with reliable transportation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
Develop a viable account base, focusing on all SML services, but gearing towards a specifically assigned specialized market.
Plan & manage a regular contact cycle according to the standards and directives of sales management. This will include the daily reporting of all planned/effected sales visits and calls, making a minimum number of visits and/or calls as required by sales management, and maximizing effectiveness through proper geographical identification of accounts. This will also include calls while entertaining customers and traveling.
To profile and identify the customer base and keep proper records updated (i.e. account profiles, customer files, mailing lists, etc.).
To generate sales leads and other pertinent information on both existing and new business. Likewise, responsible for responding to incoming sales leads for assigned accounts/territories based on time criteria set by sales and marketing management.
To regularly provide comprehensive reporting on specific markets/accounts/competition to maintain all interested parties properly advised and informed.
To utilize all designated/provided resources and tools in the daily job functions. This will include using inter-company systems (i.e. Stars Tariff Retrieval System, Sales & Marketing Revenue Reports, etc.).
Keep abreast of all tariff changes, including any new regulations and changes in rate applicability. To maintain a constant and proactive line of communication with the Pricing Staff on related issues.
To maintain proper and accurate expense records of all customer entertainment, travel and other expenses in compliance with company policies.
To properly manage all contracts under your assigned portfolio and keep them updated of all changes and have the contracts renewed 30 days before expiration.
To attend Department meetings and/or any other functions such as trade shows, association meetings on a regular basis, representing SML in a professional manner.
To oversee the overall performance of any specifically assigned market, and to interact with all parties in respect to the success of the same.
To maintain a constant and regular line of communication with the appropriate overseas offices, and to take the necessary action to ensure that all directives are being followed.
To keep Sales leadership properly informed of any issues concerning the area of responsibility cited. To provide any necessary support as directed by Sales Management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use his fingers.
The employee must drive during daylight and evening hours continuously on streets and highways.
The employee must be able to travel via airplane, train, and other modes of transportation occasionally.

The employee is continuously required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Sales Management personnel. Does not exercise supervision over any position but may request the assistance of office/clerical staff.
CONDITIONS:
Indoor office environment (30) controlled temperature intermittently during the day.
Outdoors environment driving to visit and meet with customers (70%) and exposed to non-controlled temperature
