We have one charter boat that we use for our self-guided guests that have a bit of a challenge catching halibut and lingcod. The new skipper will have approximately 34 half-day charters during our 85 day season. 4 guests per charter. You are on the water after breakfast and back by noon. We are a 22-year family operation with 11 staff plus the owners. Our last skipper was with us for 12 years.
We have long-time guests that tip very well. You will also share in the staff tips that the lodge collects from the guests. These tips average $100 per day plus your salary and boat tips, great meals, and either a shared room in the new crew quarters or a single bedroom that our old skipper used that is in the shop. You should have a lucrative summer.
We will train you until you are comfortable fishing our waters. We want a passionate fisherman that is courteous to our guests. The charter boat is a guest perk. In some groups, you will have no charters. Guests are at the lodge for 5 days. In other groups, you will have 3 charters.
Because of the low charter time, you are part of the 6 man outside crew. Filleting the days catch with our other staff and assisting guests in the evening and the morning plus any lodge projects that arise. Our season starts June 15 and ends September 2. We will need the skipper to be with us for pre-opening in late May and lodge shut down until September 12. The crew works together as a team built on respect. Their ages are from the early ’20s to 30.
