1. Employee Profile
a. Industrial Automation expert with strong ability to build optimized automation architectures and solutions fitting the
needs of the customer (including channel partners such as System Integrators). Underlying this ability is a broad
technical knowledge of:
i. Automation technology
ii. Networks (Principles, connectivity, limitations, performance)
iii. Hardware & Software systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA and VFD technology)
iv. Industry Business installed base offer: migration from and interconnection with the Industry Business
legacy offer.
b. Solid commercial aptitude which allows the SAE:
i. Technical backbone of the salesman, understand the customer and their business
ii. To propose optimum architectures according to the customer’s needs by providing a clear explanation to
the strengths and weaknesses of a particular solution. By communicating the differentiating elements in a
simple and convincing way.
c. Ability to be a part of a team. Belong to the SAE community where we learn can learn from or teach others.
2. Job Requirements
a. Day to Day Responsibilities
i. Provide front and back office pre-sales automation technical support for the sales organization.
ii. Be a part of a team. The role of the SAE is to be the technical arm of the sales team. To support the sales
team regarding the technical aspect of the opportunity including job walk throughs, scope and potential
BOM’s.
iii. Visit customers with the SE sales teams, channel partners (Distribution) or proactively on your own.
iv. Assist and support End Users, System Integrators and Consulting Engineers on our automation solutions
for their project opportunities.
v. Introduce and promote the complete Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Architectures.
vi. Build demos to help the customer visualize the main solution concepts (proof of concept)
vii. Be the main technical customer interface for system and solutions.
viii. Provide expert support: assist/lead the system & architecture definition with the customer and create value
by advising the customer on advanced issues (Principles, feasibility, limits & constraints, performance, )
ix. Provide recommendations & support in terms of migration from or interconnectivity with the Industry
Business Legacy offer.
x. Answer deep technical questions on integration/compatibility of components inside an architecture
xi. Help to close the deal by providing differentiating elements to sales for the commercial
argumentation. Explain the technical advantages and disadvantages of the proposed architecture(s). (Value
Proposition).
xii. Work closely with other SAEs and PAEs locally and within the global community in order to provide the
customer with the best solution.
xiii. Obtain detailed requirements and constraints from the customer, assist th e customer in defining the best
implementation (validate, optimize and differentiate) of the selected system architectures.
xiv. Select the most appropriate architectures and hardware to meet the customers’ requirements. Adjust and
optimize the architecture(s) most appropriately to meet the customers’ needs. (Develop Scope)
xv. Provide “Job Walks” for solution opportunities.
xvi. Actively contribute to a global network of system and architecture experts as part of the global SAE
Program:
• Sharing Success Stories and/or Best practices
• Supporting cross country opportunities
• Monthly webinar participation & Input
b. Travel – While this position will support a local region and regionalized sales people, there are times when an SAE
will be asked to support and opportunity nationally. This is usually based on the skill sets needed to support a specific
opportunity.
c. Training – Today, technology is changing fast. In order to stay current, be able to provide current solutions and to
position yourself as a consultative asset to you customer the SAE is in a continuously state of learning. This
includes Schneider Electric Hardware, Software, Ethernet and other technologies. Learning can be online or
classroom style. Additionally, there is an expectation that the new employee will train and pass the SAE certification
exams within a certain time period after hire (typical 12-24 months).
