The Transportation Logistics Director will provide leadership and support for the Northern Nevada, N Salt Lake, American Fork, and Roosevelt operations.
Location: The position will be located in our North Salt Lake City operation.
Responsibilities
Develop strong relationships with customers, understand their operations and unique needs, and assist the Operations Leaders to serve those needs
Lead and ensure compliance of required government agencies regulations, including developing relationships, accurate and timely reporting, and maintaining current plans
Participate in the development of the Unit strategy
Create and develop new business opportunities, execute strategy/development for Northern Nevada, N Salt Lake, American Fork, and Roosevelt operations operations
Teach and implement S7 and Savage System to the team
Manage the financial aspect of the Savage System (budget, projections, dailies, and variances)
Ensures operation meets all safety and quality performance standards
Understands and ensures the Savage Maintenance program is followed
Ensures all reporting deadlines (internal and external) are met
Ensures compliance of operations’ procedures and policies
Provides training and leadership in the safety, quality and maintenance aspect for the Unit
Supports operations with employee issues – hiring, performance issues and terminations
Create, solicit, and implement operational improvements
Give and receive support to other operations when needed
Qualifications
Proven leadership and development experience in building successful teams and bench strength
Desire to promote a culture where safety and environmental issues are held at a premium
Ability to develop new business and sell the capabilities of the operation and the company
Ability to focus in on problem areas and initiate steps to resolution
Creative and strategic in approaching issues
Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
Ability to travel approximately 30%
Education/Experience
Knowledge of the mining and crude oil industries preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
5 years related work experience demonstrating leadership capabilities
Knowledge of the mining industry and regulations is preferred
Experience with both dry and liquid bulk transportation preferred
Possess experience in some or all of the following areas:
Logistics, operations
Management experience with responsibility for developing and executing budgets
Customer and contractor contract negotiation and administration
Business development/commercial experience
Cultivating strong business partnerships with customers, suppliers, and key contractors
Recruiting, developing, and leading a team
Identifying and implementing solutions to commercial, operating and financial problems
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Willing to work with hazardous materials
Ability to carry at least fifty (50) pounds
