Santa Fe Apparel Looking for Women’s Sweater and Knit Designer at New York, New York Full Time

Santa Fe Apparel is looking for a women’s sweater and knit designer to join our team! This position focuses on both our branded lines and customer specific projects. There is endless room for creativity across multiple Junior and Missy customers. 

An ideal candidates has a strong sense of fashion, extensive fabric and trim knowledge, excellent time management skills, knowledge of the newest trends, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Work 5 days per week in our NYC office
• Identify fashion trends that align with each product line or customer’s core identity
• Researching the latest trends in designs, fabrics, prints, etc.  
• Working closely with other members of the design team to create line appropriate designs
• Develop capsules and individual styles to meet specific customer’s needs
• Working with overseas suppliers on sourcing new fabrics and developing new styles
• Creating development tech packs for sampling
• Working in our PLM system
• Approving lab dips, strike offs, and other submissions from factories

Secondary Responsibilities include: 

• Creating new Outerwear designs for customers and the line
• Speaking and working with customers directly
• Ensuring new development meets costing requirements
• Manage time and action calendar to meet development deadlines
• Revising development tech packs for production purposes once an order has been placed
• Shop the marketplace for new development and fashion inspiration

Requirements:

• 5+ Years experience
• Expert with design software such as Photoshop and Illustrator
• Ability to sketch your own designs
• Ability to create your own tech packs
• Familiar with PLM systems
• Team Player and open to design changes.
• A keen eye for detail.
• Ability to manage and meet deadlines
• Experience in working in a fast-paced, collaborative, environment
• Experience with 3D(virtual) design software a plus
