Roush is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist who will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This position may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. 1st shift hours located in Farmington Hills, MI.

As a Manual Machinist, you will:
Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts
Calculate where to cut or bore
Shape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon, and other materials
Determine how fast or slow the workpiece is fed into the machine
Determine how much material to remove
Select tools and materials for the job
Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations
Mark the workpiece to show where cuts should be made
Position the workpiece on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine
Monitor and control feed rate and speed
Ensure the workpiece is properly lubricated and/or cooled
Regulate the temperature of the workpiece
Detect problems by listening for specific sounds
Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations
Monitor the accuracy of cuts
Replace dull cutting tools
Check the accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications
Determine how automated equipment will cut a part
Concert path, speed, and feed information into set of instructions for machine tool
Use manual and computer-controlled machinery
Minimum qualifications for the Manual Machinist:
10 years of manual machining experience
Experience must include lathes, mills, and grinders
5 years of experience machining complex tight tolerance details
Must be able to effectively thread on the lathe
Must be able to read GD&T symbols and interpret blueprints as a Manual Machinist
Excellent shop math skills
Must have own tools
Must be able to inspect own work
Must be ready and willing to complete all tasks assigned
Must be able and willing to work overtime when necessary
Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
