Repsol has an opening for a Market Operations Analyst supporting the Repsol Renewables North America Business Unit.

Job Summary
The Market Operations Analyst will create and maintain Repsol’s short-term portfolio for ERCOT and future ISOs/RTOs markets, load forecasts, protocols for daily position reporting and management. Hedges and optimizes Repsol’s portfolio in ERCOT and other ISOs/RTOs. Supports and improves the “top-down” forecasting methodology, risk strategy through scenario analysis, and valuing associated hedges to deliver design margin on the renewable’s portfolio. The position is based in The Woodlands, Texas, or Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. One day per week will be required in the Woodlands Office.
Responsibilities:
Monitors and analyzes the ERCOT wholesale market, as well as other ISOs/RTOs.
Develops a reliable energy sale strategy in the ERCOT wholesale market for both the Day-Ahead Market and the Real-Time Market.
Constantly develops the skill and knowledge of ERCOT procedures and business functions related to the CRR program and other ERCOT operations.
With guidance from senior team members and/or management, executes the acquisition of CRRs thru auctions and trades.
Develops understanding and knowledge of competitive energy markets and trends.
Develops and maintains knowledge of the wholesale market and ERCOT grid operations.
Generates and maintains market reports per requests and internal processes.
Analyzes and creates new solutions for data acquisition and reporting.
Establishes reporting procedures on market fundamentals, portfolio positions, profit & loss, and gross margin impact for Senior Management and other areas of the company
With guidance from senior team members and/or management, assists in addressing questions from the rest of the areas of the company pertaining to the daily and real-time markets, grid operations activities, and CRR processes.
Attends stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings when needed.
Escalates issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager in a timely manner when necessary.
Develops strong working relationships with other internal departments and external service providers.
Tests and validates changes to the applications used by the team to perform energy sale in the different markets and CRR auction activity.
Performs analysis and programming thru different tools when needed (Excel, Visual Basic, Matlab/R/Python).
Qualifications:
Must have legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis, for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or other relevant field of study required.
1-3 years of direct commercial work experience in Market Operations and/or Trading in ERCOT power markets, or in any other ISO/RTOs in the USA.
Direct involvement in the sale of energy in ERCOT Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets, or in any other ISO/RTOs in the USA.
Direct involvement in CRR Auction processes in ERCOT.
Must be self-motivated and be capable of setting and executing strategy to accomplish given goals.
Works independently and escalates issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager in a timely manner when necessary.
Develops strong working relationships with other internal departments.
Produces consistent and rigorous numerical analysis and reports on demand.
