Position Summary
The Bridge Communications Director leads the development and implementation of strategic communications initiatives in the Bridge Program. The incumbent is responsible for establishing a strong communications strategy and foundation of the Program, producing and disseminating tools and resources for hospitals and providers, raising awareness in healthcare policy arenas of models for leveraging the emergency department (ED) to treat substance use disorder and other priority public health issues, and elevating the visibility of the Bridge Program as a thought leader.
Bridge is a new and innovative program to strengthen care in the ED and build connections with community health to improve access to care and health equity. Our flagship program, CA Bridge, has introduced the practice of treating opioid use disorder on demand in 280 EDs in California and many more across the country. We have now expanded our portfolio of programs to expand reproductive health care and public health screenings in the ED. We are seeking team members who are committed to improving the lives of people who have been excluded from the health care system.
Full salary range for this position: $104,733 to $159,181 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $104,733 (minimum) to $131,957 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Communications Planning
Bridge is an umbrella program that encompasses multiple sub-programs, the largest of which is CA Bridge. Most communications functions are consolidated at the overall Bridge program level, but individual sub-programs also have specific goals and needs. Specific activities under this function include:
Brand Management
We recently transitioned from a single brand, CA Bridge, to a brand hierarchy with Bridge as the parent brand over sub-programs with evolving levels of their own identities. Specific activities under this function include:
Training and Technical Assistance Resource Production
A large portion of Bridge’s work involves providing trainings and materials for emergency clinicians and navigators working in hospitals implementing our programs. Specific activities under this function include:
Outreach and External Visibility
Building the reputation of Bridge among key stakeholders is a growing priority that we are looking to strengthen in the next year. Specific activities under this function include:
Leadership and Supervision
The communications director oversees a team of three to four staff and is a member of the senior leadership team. Specific activities under this function include:

This position is classified as exempt based on the job duties. However, based on the FTE and salary level of the employee, the employee may be classified as nonexempt.
