POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant/Accounting Specialist assists the Sr. Manager, Accounting Operations in all tasks and helps with finance and development related management reports. This role includes preparing, depositing and reviewing donations for accuracy and donor restrictions, and working with the Development team and the donor database.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with overseeing all day-to-day operations (banking/mail processing/donor database).
*
Open financial mail, batch, scan and deposit checks.
*
Send copy of checks and deposit to Development and Health Affairs team members.
*
Report on and distribute listing of incoming funds received in the bank and assign batch ID to donations.
*
Review donor processing and donor information entered in donor database, and post batches into the financial system.
*
Assist in setting up accounting codes and pledges in the donor database for restricted funds.
*
Review of vendor invoices, compare to Development department budget and approve.
*
Assist with monthly journal entries and reconciliations.

Assist with any financial reporting requirements from Finance and the Development team…

Assist in preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
*
Assist with preparing and monitoring the Development team’s annual budget.
*
Gather information for annual Charitable Gift Annuity registrations and send to PG Calc.
*
Gather information for state registrations and send to Global Impact.
*
Assist with preparing quarterly reports for Colleagues in Global Health.
*
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in accounting or similar role.
*
Understanding of accounting principles and practices
*
Highly proficient in MS software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
*
Familiarity with automated accounting systems
*
Experience working in a nonprofit environment preferred
*
Experience working with NetSuite accounting system preferred

Salary starts at $53,000 USD per year. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
