The practice will be based at the medical center which has an independent endoscopy suite with 3 rooms with new Olympus scopes and supported by anesthesia service. The practice has a strong referral base with more than 50 primary care and other referring providers. There is also strong support from General Surgery, Hospital Medicine and a seasoned GI physician at our sister-hospital in Martinsville. Call expectations are 10 nights per month. The positions offer an opportunity to teach through Sovah Healths internal medicine and family practice residency programs.
Sovah Health – Danville is a 250-bed academic community hospital with the region’s only designated Chest Pain Center & Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The facility has served the community and region for more than 120 years. Danville has comprehensive surgical services, 24-hour emergency services, a home health & hospice agency, an advanced wound healing center, cardiac rehabilitation center, two cardiac catheterization labs, a one-day surgery center, and medical & radiation oncology services. The hospital is accredited by American College of Cardiology (ACC) Accreditation Services for Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure, accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and is a member of the Duke Heart Network and Duke Telestroke Network.
With more than 50 gastroenterologists and hepatologists, Duke GI seeks to provide high quality, patient-centered care throughout our region.
Minimal qualifications for the positions are an M.D. or equivalent degree with board certification in gastroenterology. Graduating fellows who will be board eligible are also eligible.
