Job Summary
Assessment, stabilization, and treatment of patients before and during interfacility transport Acts independently and proficiently to perform all advanced respiratory therapy general and critical care uA procedures in accordance with the physician us order, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care guidelines or protocols
Accountabilities
uAPerforms assessment, stabilization, and treatment of patients before and during interfacility transport in ambulance or helicopter
Acts independently and proficiently to perform all advanced respiratory therapy general and critical care uA procedures in accordance with the physician us order, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care guidelines or protocols uA %
Performs airway maintenance including : proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, intubations / extubations, perform tracheostomy change
Accurately and completely documents charting uA Initiates, maintains, transports and monitors mechanical ventilators to include conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation %
Able to obtain blood gases from all sites uA Analyzes and reports results accurately Performs blood gas analyzer quality control and maintenance as needed
Initiates umbilical venous catheter insertion Independently initiates, monitors, and manages all types of airway and associated equipment to include advanced invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation%
Accurately and completely documents patient care and provides patient and family education as appropriate%
Effectively communicates well with all members of the health care team uA Provides a complete and accurate report to Medical Control
Makes recommendations to medical directors during transports as appropriate %
Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives uA Performs appropriate cleaning / disinfection and sterilization of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status%
