Oakridge is currently recruiting for a heavy equipment and truck mechanic for our onsite shop. Candidates for this position will ensure and oversee proper repair and maintenance of company equipment. This equipment includes gas / diesel trucks and vehicles and various heavy equipment. The below is intended only as a general description and should be considered as a minimal in order to fulfill this role. Job duties are subject to job role additions and changes at any time.
Job Title: Heavy Equipment & truck Mechanic
Location: 340 Regional Rd. 20, Hamilton, ON
Pay: $36.00 to $41.00 per hour – 44 hours per week
Benefits – RRSP program
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Truck and Coach License and/or Heavy Equipment License
- 310T License with minimum of 2 year heavy equipment experience acceptable
- Drivers Licence class “G” or better
- Experience with CAT ET & SIS an asset but not required
- Be knowledgeable about gasoline engines and vehicles
- Be knowledgeable on diesel vehicles and equipment
- Good understanding of hydraulics
- Good understanding of electronics
- Some welding abilities
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become familiar with the warranties on all trucks & equipment as many of our assets have extended warranties and should be repaired by outside sources
- Perform preventative maintenance on all trucks & equipment. This will involve scheduling and communication with operators in order to ensure that equipment is brought back to the shop, timely, for maintenance
- Diagnose problems and repairs on all trucks, equipment, small engines, etc. and repair
- Assist shop admin by providing estimates for material, labour or outside services when needed
- Install GPS w vehicles and equipment and remove from old and inform HRSM, Accounting Department, and the Equipment and Yard Superintendent of any changes
- Complete work orders on time and ensure they are submitted to the shop admin for processing and
- Ensure all paperwork completed is within regulations and will meet CVOR standards for the applicable vehicles.
- You will be required to participate with the on-call shift when necessary, especially during snow season.
- Help manage all MTO paper work. Ensure all documents are being filled properly
