Job Title: Charge Nurse
POSITION SUMMARY: Assumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to the patient, family, care partner and appropriate others. Coordinates multi-disciplinary team members, directs and facilitates nursing staff in obtaining safe, optimal health care outcomes. Supports activities that meet the facility vision, mission and goals. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
PROVISION OF SERVICES
Develops, implements, and evaluates an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Maintains professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources, as needed. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees. The RN will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. The RN will comply with appropriate and approved standards, as outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies. The RN will comply with safety and injury prevention standards to minimize risk to self, co-workers, patients, and visitors. The concepts of the patient centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.
LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE
Utilizes the appropriate leadership skills in delegating and providing feedback concerning staff performance. Demonstrates initiative, a collaborative approach, and sound judgment in day to day management at the unit level.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Manages the satisfaction of department outcomes to include patients, families, peers, employees, and physicians through effective communication and appropriate responsiveness to customer issues. Accountability for appropriate staffing for each shift, based on patient census, acuity, and available resources.

Emergency
The Texas Department of State Health Services has designated Northwest Texas Healthcare System as the Lead Trauma Facility for the top 26 counties within the Texas Panhandle. As an Advanced Level III Trauma facility, the Northwest Texas Healthcare emergency department cares for more than 64,000 patients each year.
Our emergency services have expanded to three locations to receive care: Northwest Emergency, Northwest Emergency at Town Square and Northwest Emergency at Georgia.
Heart Hospital
Northwest Texas Healthcare System is well known for its exceptional cardiac care through its Heart Hospital. Our accredited Chest Pain Center offers rapid, round-the-clock, evidence-based treatment of heart attack and suspected heart attack. The center is accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, an institute of the American College of Cardiology. To receive accreditation, a center must show that it combines evidence-based science, quality initiatives, clinical guidelines and best practices to produce an effective care model for heart attack and suspected heart attack.
Pediatrics
Northwest Children’s Hospital of Northwest Texas Healthcare System offers more than 40 pediatric subspecialties and serves as the Texas Panhandle’s primary healthcare provider for children. Our general pediatrics unit is widely respected for its progressive medical services and advanced technology.
