Description
Northeastern State University’s College
of Education is seeking applicants for Assistant Professor of Education for the Department of Teacher Education on the Broken Arrow
campus.
Responsibilities
This position will require the candidate to teach courses in the field of
education.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and sustaining a research agenda in an area of
education.
Teaching a 12-hour load.
Preparing curriculum that models the use of Oklahoma Academic Standards.
Teaching in multiple
delivery modes which include, but are not limited to electronic delivery (i.e. blended, online), face to face and arranged.
Preparing for
and conducting class sessions and related activities that are relevant, challenging, and motivating which are directed at school reform,
school improvement and student centered learning.
Recruiting future candidates and promoting all programs within the College of
Education.
Following the Strategic Plan and Boyer Models, the faculty member will serve on College and University committees, participate
in scholarly activities and collaborate with the area schools, community and region to serve the mission of the College and
institution.
Requirements
Current teaching license required. Qualified candidates will have an earned
doctorate in education from an accredited institution. (Terminal degree in education is required for a tenure track position.) Candidates
who are ABD in their doctorate or candidates with a masters degree and significant related professional experience (not
eligible to be placed on tenure track) may be considered (salary commensurate).
Experience
Candidates should
have the ability to contribute to and encourage collegiality, professional development, and scholarly activity while balancing the needs of
a diverse faculty and student body.
Higher education teaching experience in the field of education is preferred.
Candidates should
have at least three (3) years teaching experience in a P-12 classroom using a variety of research-based teaching strategies, including an
understanding of Oklahoma Academic Standards.
An instructional leader/collaborator; excellent interpersonal, written, and oral
communication skills are critical.
Candidates should have experience in problem-based learning, teaching with an array of distance
learning technologies, teaching in blended learning formats and online teaching and evidence of working collaboratively with on-campus and
off-campus colleagues and constituencies. Elementary, Special Education, or Early Childhood education and teaching experience is a plus.
Tenure-track
Annual salary $51,600.00 with excellent benefits.
