This position is an Administrative Secretary to the Warden at NC Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) which houses approximately 1,776 of minimum, medium, or close custody female offenders.Reporting directly to the Warden, this position is responsible for providing administrator assistance and office management services. Duties may include but are not limited to:The position has responsibility for correspondence and records management, filing, database maintenance, telephone responsibilities, as well as greeting and directing visitors and staff. This position processes documents and correspondence by transcribing dictation from rough drafts provided by the Correctional Prison Warden and often uses independent composition. Primary functions of this position is public contact for the Correctional Prison Warden by making and receiving telephone calls, directing visitors and staff, processing of incoming and outgoing mail for the Warden, making reservations, appointments, and arranging transportation needs. This position maintains a calendar of periodic reports and handles a significant amount of sensitive and confidential information. This position is assigned to the office of the Correctional Prison Warden and must always present a professional image. This position is responsible for answering high volume of calls from the general public, elected officials, inmate families and staff; and will also greet and direct visitors and officials to the Correctional Prison Warden’s Office. This position requires thorough knowledge of prisons policies and operations to respond to inquiries. Position will be required to provide statistics, data or other information on very short notice at times and must be able to maintain information in and easily retrievable manner.This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Working hours are [7am – 4pm or 8am – 5pm] Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is NC08. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state’s primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state’s other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders.The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.
