Project Engineer
Summary :
Project Engineers are responsible for developing the detailed specifications for the installation of telecommunications equipment in central office or customer premise locations
Duties will include interfacing with customer technical representatives, performing site surveys, writing detailed installation specifications, performing material and labor cost analysis, and providing technical and field engineering support
Knowledge of telecommunications transport technologies and central office environments and standards are a plus It is the primary point of contact for the customer as well as for operations, installation, and project management personnel on technical matters on assigned projects
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Field travel for site surveys and project related meetings
Preparation of proposals, based on site surveys, customer requests and standards
Selection of materials to meet project installation requirements
Preparation of detailed engineering and installation specifications
Modification of customer drawings and data for projects
Provide status on assigned projects
Assure adherence to company and customer standards and practices
Participation in quality activities for project engineering work
Interfaces directly with customer field, center and central office engineers on scope and content of assigned projects
Provide specific detail engineering information to customers for projects assigned
Assist in customer inquiries to resolve technical issues
Serve as primary point of contact for the customer on projects executed by the team
Acts as technical leader on projects assigned
Takes measures as necessary to satisfy the needs of the customer in the best interests of both the customer and company
Required Skills
Telecommunications infrastructure and equipment engineering
Ability to understand and work to strict customer standards
Ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent organizational, verbal, written and telephone communication skills
Acute sensitivity to customer needs and overall customer service
Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Access
Functional knowledge of basic computer aided design (CAD) drawing and editing software
Required Experience
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred or related Central Office experience
years project engineering experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry or related Central Office experience
