THE OPPORTUNITY
The National College of Education (NCE) at National Louis University (NLU) seeks a dynamic educator with demonstrated expertise in educational leadership to join its faculty as Director of Teacher Preparation Programs. This is a full-time 12-month administrative faculty position, Professional Practice track, rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
NLU’s School of Teacher Preparation Programs serves PK-12 educators by offering a variety of degree programs including MAT Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Administration, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education and Secondary Education. The Teacher Preparation Programs are offered using a combination of modality and methods, suited for working educators who seek to advance their careers.
We currently seek a leader to oversee all Teacher Preparation Programs within the National College of Education, and to coordinate closely with other doctoral and advanced programs. The Director is the lead administrative and academic advocate for the Teacher Preparation Programs and works closely with the chair of each individual program to ensure the highest levels of academic excellence, fiscal integrity, student success, and faculty support. Racial justice and equity in education are a primary focus of all NCE programs. The ability to drive the University’s diversity, equity and inclusion goals through its Teacher Preparation Programs will be a priority focus of the successful applicant.
We are seeking a proven scholar and practitioner with extensive understanding of the contemporary field of education. The ideal candidate will combine demonstrated experience/knowledge of PK-12 education and higher education institutions, structures and systems. This position spans development and implementation of programs and curricula for the preparation of prospective curriculum directors, reading specialists, school psychologists, and leaders.

You are an accomplished educator with demonstrated leadership experience in public or private learning communities, including roles in PK-12 and/or higher education settings.
An earnest advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion as intrinsic attributes of the student-centered learning communities you have led and influenced.
An experienced change leader who has successfully guided schools, districts and/or postsecondary education programs through systemic change, continuous improvements, and/or accreditation review processes.
A data-driven systems thinker and academic administrator with organizational competencies in planning, designing, implementing, marketing, and evaluating academic programs.
A thought-leader with a scholarly mindset and resourcefulness to support advancement of our faculty’s research, assessment, and evaluation agendas.
A collaborative educational partner who connects collegially with internal and external stakeholders in schools, districts, postsecondary institutions and professional organizations to strengthen reciprocal connections among learning organizations.

How to reinforce a collaborative model of program design that is grounded in field needs and draws upon current research to inform program delivery and expansion.
How to use your knowledge of the role of curriculum and instructional leadership to continue to build innovative programs to meet the needs of today’s PK-12 schools and adult learners in various settings.
