Montana State University-Northern (MSUN) is a comprehensive university
serving approximately 1,100 students in an unusually large geographic region that includes four American Indian reservations. It is one of
six baccalaureate institutions comprising the Montana University System. The campus is located in Havre and offers courses leading to a
certificate, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees in engineering technologies, trades, agriculture, automotive, diesel,
professional teacher education, business, nursing, industrial technologies, and sciences. MSUN emphasizes a variety of learning delivery
options and responds to a wide range of student needs. MSUN education provides the opportunity for social and economic upward mobility for
its students.
The city of Havre is located in North Central Montana, the Big Sky Country, an area known for its outdoor
recreational opportunities. Havre is surrounded by great high plains of grain stretching into Canada to the north, the enormous Fort Peck
Lake to the east, the Bear’s Paw Mountains to the south, and the Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park to the west; a pristine
environment in all directions. Agri-business, retail stores, services, farming, ranching, railroad, and education are the local economies.
Rail and air transportation are provided locally by Amtrak and Cape Air. The metropolitan communities of Great Falls, Montana, 120 miles
southwest, and Medicine Hat, Canada, 150 miles northwest, offer big city amenities.
Montana State University-Northern values
diverse perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting and building an inclusive and culturally diverse campus
environment. Montana State University-Northern commits to a learning and working environment that emphasizes the dignity and worth of
every member of its community that is free from unlawful discrimination and harassment based upon race, color, religion, national origin,
creed, service in the uniformed services (as defined in state and federal law), veteran status, sex, gender, age, political ideas, marital
or family status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, genetic information, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation
(taken together, generally, “protected-class harm”). An inclusive environment is necessary for a healthy and productive
University community.
