The Role
Moderna is seeking a Principal Data Visualization and Business Enablement Analyst to support Moderna’s data and AI strategy. You’ll create and deliver executive and functional products using Tableau and other tools. Your work will enable functions to make data-driven decisions. You’ll collaborate with teams to understand their data needs and provide customized solutions. Your work will help Moderna leverage data effectively to drive innovation and improve efficiency.
This position will be based in Moderna’s Cambridge, MA offices.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Collaborate extensively with business partners in various functions, including Commercial, Finance, Research and Development, and Clinical, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business case. Lead the design, iterative development, and deployment/adoption of high-complexity/high-exposure data visualization solutions.
Work closely with business and Digital analytics leaders to identify upcoming demand, detail out reporting requirements, and anticipate/mitigate potential roadblocks.
Manage and mentor peer and junior analysts on product ownership and adopting an agile framework for delivering data products.
Build a local hub of talented data storytellers and Tableau experts that will support and unlock the power of data analytics and visualization across the organization.
Partner closely with colleagues in the Data Engineering team on data model design and needs for data visualization projects. Be willing to roll up your sleeves and model data yourself when necessary.
Provide expert technical guidance and training for data visualization peers, including quickly finding, understanding, and sharing workarounds and solutions to tricky technical data visualization challenges.
Establish, document, teach, and enforce standard company practices for data visualization, such as style guides, Tableau Online governance, data modeling approach for viz, and best-practice one-pagers.
Capture metadata and relationships for our data catalog related to solutions you develop.
Analyze and monitor the delivery process and solution utilization and use metrics to continuously improve operational efficiency and user engagement.
Manage a portfolio of projects with competing priorities in a wide variety of business domains.
Act as an enterprise thought leader on visualization and data-driven decision making.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Biotechnology, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or equivalent computational field
8+ years of job relevant experience as a Consultant, Product Manager or Product Owner developing and delivering top-notch data visualization solutions
Experience in Tableau and familiarity in other platforms like Looker and Spotfire
Experience managing and leading teams to deliver analytics and insights
Experience with Alteryx, Dataiku or other self-serve Data prep, AI and ML tools
Customer-centric and goal-oriented and familiar with agile methodologies and SCRUM.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Advanced degree preferred
Experience with Tableau certification preferred; Data viz work examples and/or Tableau Public profile preferred
Impeccable business partnering skills, communication, and business savvy to understand context/use cases, ask meaningful questions, and deploy solutions company-wide that add real value and are adopted.
Good ETL, data modeling, and data wrangling skills, including a good understanding of SQL and cloud data warehousing (Redshift/Snowflake).
Deeply motivated to teach, enable, and help others.
Entrepreneurial owner mindset, self-driven with a first principles approach to problem-solving.
Willingness to challenge the status quo, drive culture change, and inspire others to follow.
Exceptional communication skills and an ability to engage with senior stakeholders in numerous functions across the company.
Pharma/bio-tech/life sciences experience preferred. Experience in Finance or Commercial is preferred.
