Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, FL is looking for a Manager of Transportation and International Logistics.
SUMMARY
Lead and manage Transportation, Logistics and FTZ activities to meet required schedules and optimize cost and delivery performance in support of OEM Services Parts, LTSA and Field Operations. Oversee activity related to OSC Foreign Trade Zone as well as any offsite subzones. Maintain adherence to the import/export compliance requirements of the U.S. and other North, Central and South American countries, as well as any other origin or destination country as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and direct transportation and logistics personnel to Support all OEM Services and Orlando Service Center activities, including Field Services and Turbine Generator Repair satellite locations.
Develop and manage staff leads who oversee daily transactional activities of themselves and other specialists.
Provide OEM Services Parts business oversight of Orlando shipping and receiving, logistics, warehousing and inventory activities.
Manage and/or oversee all administrative and compliance-related activities and serve as the reporting interface related to the OSC Foreign Trade Zone, as well as all Subzone activity (e.g. USCBP, NAFTZB, GOAA contract and Integration Point interface).
Be aware of U.S. Federal, State and Local laws, regulations and permits relating to the movement of goods over the highways, bridges and tunnels; and assure compliance to local/state/national/international statutes and requirements.
Be aware, and contract brokers with deeper awareness, of International customs (and other related legal or regulatory) considerations for countries in which MHPS does or intends to do business. This includes certificate of origin requirements, commercial invoice and other documentation (e.g. Argentinian SIMI).
For countries in which MHPS or its affiliates are contracted to perform onshore transportation and logistics activities, analyze potential transportation, logistics and customs considerations for each project. Establish local provider networks capable of supporting planned and unplanned events.
Develop relationships and logistical lanes for movement of bonded materials, including but not limited to
Temporary U.S. imports for repair
Temporary export, and associated temporary destination country import, of tools and diagnostic equipment
Inland transportation and storage associated with the international segments where contractually required, excluding international drop shipments.
Establish, evaluate, and select providers to maintain a qualified carrier base. Maintain carrier contracts for both inbound and outbound shipping which minimize MHPS risk exposure (i.e., insurance claims, proper shipping documentation, safety ratings, and mitigating financial risk from our import/export shippers and carrier partners).
Evaluate and utilize the best modes, routes, warehousing and carrier selection that can improve customer service and reduce total logistics costs and time.
Establish and report performance and measurement metrics for our carriers based on cost, quality, delivery and reliability.
Maintain the necessary systems and procedures that will interface with order management and cost accounting functions and, ultimately, the end-user or consumer;
Audit freight bills against contract rates and quoted services;
Provide cost reporting to Parts, LTSA and Field Operations;
Oversee cycle counting procedures and results.
Provide afterhours support for emergencies.
Minimal overnight travel (less than 20%) – International
Perform other such duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or at least ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have Latin and South America Logistics exp., expedited shipping and air freight experience. Knowledge of Export/Import Compliance and of Foreign Trade Zone procedures, practices and regulations desired.
Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Fluent English. Conversational Spanish or Portuguese desired.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, revenues, margins, and profits. Ability to apply concepts of accounting and finance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database.
