Job Description
In coordination with the University of Missouri Office of
Extension and Engagement and the Missouri 4-H Center for Youth Development, the Department of Education at Missouri S&T seeks to fill a
full-time, 12-month non-tenure track position that is eligible for rank and promotion. Non-tenure rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Extension
Professor) may be assigned depending on qualifications and experience demonstrated through a curriculum vitae and by the college’s promotion
policy.
This position provides leadership to the: (1) design, development, delivery, and evaluation of the 4-H STEM
program, (2) statewide 4-H youth leadership groups , including but not limited to the Missouri 4-H STEM Ambassadors, and (3)
collaborations with colleagues, teaching and research faculty, regional Extension faculty and staff, youth, volunteers, partners, and
stakeholders. The position creates systems to help youth, ages 5 to 18, learn about the role of STEM in their lives so that they may better
explore career possibilities in related fields. The position is responsible for the leadership development and educational opportunities in
STEM and is expected to collaborate with faculty in other fields and with 4-H state specialists and educators.
The faculty
will also be responsible for leading both existing and new collaborations between 4-H, Missouri S&T Department of Education, and the MU
College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). . The faculty will build multidisciplinary collaborations with campus faculty to develop
programs, events, while also seeking external funding, thus contributing to both the research and the engagement mission of the university.
This faculty will also contribute to the recruitment of undergraduate students and provide opportunities for hands-on learning and
high-impact experiences (e.g., field experiences) for education majors. The faculty will also be expected to teach one to two courses per
year within the Missouri S&T Department of Education . Service activities for both MU Extension and the department will be completed as
assigned. .
The start date is negotiable but preferred as June 1, 2024 or earlier. Salary is commensurate with
experience, and the position includes ongoing supplemental monetary support for scholarly activities. Review of applications will begin on

The appointment is an annually renewable contract with the Missouri S&T Education Department and the Missouri 4-H Center for
Youth Development. The faculty will report to the Chair of the Education Department with secondary supervision from the Director of the
Missouri 4-H Center for Youth Development.

Missouri 4-H Center for Youth
Development. The 4-H Center is located on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. Missouri 4-H serves more than 60,000 youth around
the state using different delivery modes, from Community Clubs to Afterschool and In School programs.
The Education
Department at Missouri S&T includes the academic department as well as the Kummer Center for STEM Education, the South Central Regional
Professional Development Center, and the Child Development Center. Over 100 students are pursuing teacher certification at Missouri
S&T. Students intending to teach high school major in their content area, middle school, elementary, and early childhood
certification areas major in education. The department also has an educational studies emphasis area for those interested in informal
educational settings.

Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in education or a related field with course work in a discipline or program related to STEM at time of appointment.
Relevant coursework in one or more of the following areas: education, learning theory and learning strategies; organizational systems and
human resource management; community development/ partnerships; child, adolescent, and human development; and volunteerism. Equivalent
experience will be considered.
