Responsibilities
The Manager, Network Nursing Clinical Programs will oversee one or more nursing clinical education or academic affairs programs (Clinical Program) that have a significant impact across the network. The Manager is responsible for planning, administering and directing Clinical Program activities across all Hackensack Meridian Health entities to help the network achieve institutional nursing alignment and integration of the program that meets and/or exceeds national standards. The Manager ensures appropriate entry into the Clinical Program is maintained and meets the needs for patient care, and the program curricula are standardized, up-to-date, evidence-based, and meet all regulatory requirements. The Manager is the community liaison for the Clinical Program, implementing community based publicity, communication, and recruitment efforts throughout the network.
Current Clinical Programs: (1) Nursing Orientation; (2) Nurse Residency Program; (3) Operating Room Academy; (4) Integrative Health Birchtree Program; (5) PCT Apprentice Program; (6) Network Falls/Geriatric Program
1. Plans, administers and directs all aspects of the Clinical Program across HMH, including but not limited to physical and material resources, budget, recruitment, data collection, and data reporting.
2. Provides operational management of Clinical Program while improving service excellence, clinical quality, educational training and educational outcomes. Within the Clinical Program, promotes team member professional development, the delivery of quality patient outcomes and competent nursing care by professional, licensed, ancillary, nursing and hospital personnel.
3. In partnership with the Vice President, the Manager is responsible for the coordination, design, implementation, and documentation of the Clinical Program and participants.
4. Demonstrates expertise in the four phases of the Clinical Program educational process; needs assessment, development and design, and delivery of educational offerings, and evaluation.
5. Ensures Clinical Program design meets TJC requirements and promotes continued Magnet status. Coordinates Clinical Policy development and ensures compliance with regulatory standards (JCAHO, DSC, CMS, SDOH, etc).
6. Establishes and maintains a network of hospital based point persons who act as the local oversight of the Clinical Program. Coordinates with local point persons to ensure standardization of Clinical Program, including education and skills/competencies throughout HMH. Works with Human Resources and Nursing Leadership to meet the patient care needs through recruitment, education, and retention of team members into the Clinical Program.
7. Creates, monitors, delivers, assesses, and evaluates Clinical Program throughout the HMH network. Coordinates with Nursing Leadership and Clinical Nurse Education Specialists to ensure skill needs are met and new needed skills/competencies are taught and validated.
8. Facilitates Clinical Program policy, procedure, and protocol development and revisions, incorporating a standardized format, inclusive of Evidence-Based Practice for internal consistency, as well as standardized cross-indexing/linkages for facilitated end user access.
9. Collaborates with network nursing, education and campus leaders to ensure the Clinical Program is in alignment with organizational and facility goals and objectives. Develop alliances with physicians and other clinicians where applicable to ensure full integration.
10. Works as a community liaison to publicize and recruit for the Clinical Program.
11. Responsible for the budget related to the Clinical Program, reconciling donor and/or grant funds and expenses, as applicable, creating necessary periodic reports. Promotes cost effective use of organizational resources, consistently supporting budget objectives. Responsible for financial analysis. Facilitates implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of action plans aimed to correct variances.
12. Fosters open, direct and constructive communication across all levels, eliminates obstacles, and meets goals.
13. Promotes current professional nursing standards and best practices. Makes referrals/recommendations for problem solving to meet professional best practices, regulatory or accreditation standards. Utilizes current nursing literature, research, evidence-based practices in development of educational activities and processes.
14. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
