The Clinical Therapist provides comprehensive assessment and effective psychotherapy in an outpatient behavioral health department.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Clinical Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Provides comprehensive behavioral health assessments to determine appropriate level of care and diagnosis. Presents and interprets information to approved staff, families and providers when needed.
2. Provides effective individual, group and family psychotherapy to patients with mental health and substance use disorders.
3. Develops and maintains comprehensive treatment plans and treatment plan reviews according to department and hospital policies.
4. Effectively discharges and transfers patients according to department and hospital standards.
5. Provides services in accordance with professional and department N.J. Licensing regulations.
6. Documentation is completed in an electronic record in an accurate and timely manner as per
department/hospital policies.
7. Meets productivity standards and manages an active caseload with some case management
responsibilities.
8. Able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and with providers outside the department.
9. Maintains and provides knowledge of current issues in the field and shares information with other team members.
10. Actively participates in performance improvement projects.
11. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
12. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Outpatient Behavioral Health Experience.
2. Experience with substance use treatment.
3. Bi-lingual.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. NJ Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Associate Counselor License (LAC) or NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Professional Counselor License (LPC)
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
