Position description
In charge of implementing the vision and direction of the Core Director and Operations Manager as well as maintaining efficient operation of the assigned work unit(s).
Engage and seek input of the Core Director and Operations Manager on decisions that could impact the operation of the Core.
Foster communication between leadership and allied health staff. Maintain active communication with peer Supervisors, facilitate time sharing of staff members across work units and identify and implement efficiencies across work units.
Lead performance evaluations and partner with staff on promotion and academic promotions.
Address performance issues.
Lead or actively participate in recruitment of new staff.
Contribute to the establishment of the charge out rate.
Review time allocation of the staff for accurate billing.
Communicate and implement improvements derived from the staff survey.
Domain Expertise:
A working Supervisor is a senior member of the AH with demonstrated broad domain expertise in Biostatistics. The Supervisor is required to keep his/her knowledge current to be able to assess the current technical expertise of the staff to stay relevant and meet the demands of the investigators/programs and assess staffing needs to address any gaps.
Additional Expectations:
The Supervisor is expected to perform to the high standards expected at Mayo and be a model to the staff. The Supervisor embraces changes and is a champion for improvement impacting efficiency and quality of the services provided by the staff.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Statistics/Biostatistics or equivalent, or a Masters’ degree in Mathematics or Public Health with at least 12 graduate level semester hours in statistics, with a GPA of 3.0 or greater. 6+ years total experience as a statistician. Must be at the Senior Statistician level or above.
Additional qualifications
Demonstrated leadership and management skills preferred. Experience in statistical analysis software such as SAS or R. Expertise in the use of statistical computing and data management packages. Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize, organize, and delegate various tasks on multiple, concurrent projects. Demonstrated success as an independent consulting statistician on most projects. Frequently demonstrated initiative/innovation in administration, education (seminars, SSUI, training), software development, technical reports. Demonstrated success in project management and communication skills. A commitment to customer service with an attitude of owning the experience of each customer is required.
