Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Ensure sufficient staffing coverage for normal business hours and off-hours support for
emergency service.
• Ensure technician staff competency and skill is appropriate for their assigned work; Pursue
technical training to meet any identified gaps in experience or skill or recommend alternate
service options (e.g. vender service agreement).
• Working with team leaders, monitor the growth and development of the technician workforce,
execute corrective action as needed, and ensure equity in performance management of
technicians across teams.
• Ensure service support maintains compliance with relevant regulatory programs for medical
equipment at hospitals and health care facilities (e.g. JC, CMS, DPH).
• Maintain positive relationships and regular communication with key administrative, operations,
and clinical leads.
• Provide routine reporting and regular communication to MGH Biomedical Technology Services
directors and peer mangers on team activities and support concerns.
• Ensure timely and complete documentation of all work performed by team (or vendor), parts and
labor, to enable effort and expense tracking for each team.
• Monitor equipment vendor service contracts status and provide oversight of equipment vendors
for service coordination, cost tracking, and renewal dates.
• Assist department directors with operating expense reviews in preparation for operating budget
submissions. Track operating budget expenses and needs on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure timely resourcing and follow-up for medical device recalls and safety reports.
• Monitor team performance and report on established key metrics.
• Ensure teams’ compliance with hospital and department policies and programs including the
MEMP and CMMS database. Monitor CMMS data quality to maintain data accuracy and
integrity.
• Provide operational oversight of biomedical shops and team members’ workspace. Serve as
liaison for logistics coordination with the operations support team.
• Collect customer requests that require engineering involvement, such us capital equipment
purchases, technology evaluations and implementations, and renovations or construction in
clinical areas. Work with directors and engineering managers to resource accordingly.
• Manage any needed service call or issue escalation; May serve as point of contact for
escalations or emergency preparedness events, including off-hours coverage.
• Participate in meetings, projects, assignments and committees for program development and
management, operations improvement and other departmental or hospital needs.• Knowledge of hospital medical equipment and management with a high level of
understanding in the operation, maintenance and repair of this equipment
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical operations within a clinical equipment environment
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage staff in a dynamic, fast-paced
environment
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and coach others to achieve peak performance

• Strong computer skills and proficiency with business software applications (e.g. Office 365,
and our CMMS)
• Knowledge of basic computer networking architecture principles

Minimum 5 years of technical experience within biomedical engineering in a hospital environment or
equivalent years of industry experience with demonstrated ability to adapt to hospital environment.
Management experience, including personnel management of 5 years required with experience
overseeing technical staff. Understanding of engineering fundamentals, standards and relevant
regulations required.
