Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and construct specialized electrophysiology equipment, including electrode arrays, amplifiers, data acquisition systems, and stimulation devices.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and clinicians to understand their experimental requirements and translate them into functional equipment prototypes.
• Conduct thorough testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of electrophysiology equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance.
• Implement hardware and software modifications to existing equipment, as needed, to meet evolving research needs.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, scientific advancements, and industry trends in the field of electrophysiology equipment development.
• Maintain detailed documentation of equipment designs, modifications, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and provide guidance on equipment usage and maintenance.
• Collaborate with other research teams to support their electrophysiology experiments and provide technical assistance, when necessary.• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of electrophysiology equipment.
• Proficiency in electronics prototyping, including PCB design, soldering, and wiring.
• Strong knowledge of electrophysiology principles and techniques, such as patch-clamp recording, multi-electrode array systems, and neural stimulation.
• Experience with programming languages commonly used in electrophysiology research, such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems, signal processing, and analog/digital circuit design.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
