The MGH/MGPO Practice Improvement Division is charged with optimizing and standardizing operations for MGH/MGPO ambulatory practices. Ambulatory Management provides consulting and practice support to the ambulatory practices of the MGH/MGPO and is charged with supporting ambulatory practices in improving operation, business and administrative outcomes. The Ambulatory Management Office partners with the Center for Ambulatory Services and Office of Patient Experience to set and communicate standards and best practices for ambulatory operations. Within the Ambulatory Management Office there are three groups; Practice and Project Management (PPM), Data & Infrastructure, and Training & Communications.
In partnership with the Program Manager of PPM, the incumbent will lead assigned projects to support the mission and core functions of the PPM team including standardizing and optimizing ambulatory workflows using innovative protocols for increasing patient access, improving the patient experience, and leveraging technology for ambulatory care.The focus will be on the MGH/MGPO and patient expectations for operations and services and to connect practices with the resources available to improve operations and efficiency.
Lead assigned projects within the department with oversight from team leadership. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to creating project planning and support to meet Ambulatory strategy; manage performance of assigned projects and monitor project staff; and advance the processes that enable the optimum performance of assigned projects and resources.
This position requires strong skill and ability in project management with demonstrated experience working on large, complex projects and the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects. Excellent and independent judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization are needed. Also required are exceptional organizational skills, including effectively developing work plans, meeting deadlines and managing projects and teams within a fast-paced, changing environment. The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively to produce consistent, high-quality outcomes.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in healthcare, business or related field; MBA, MPH, or MHA preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management or a related field required with increasing levels of responsibility and with an emphasis on ambulatory initiatives for practice management/operations improvement in a healthcare setting preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
None. Provide functional guidance to project team members.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Prudent use of hospital resources and cost-effective participation in project budget development and monitoring
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office work environment. May need to work outside of standard hours to attend meetings. May travel locally to attend meetings.
